The MiLANT project employs state-of-the-art rendering techniques based on GPUs. We use several programs and platforms and produce final imagery through a process pipeline. Different steps of this process can be identified:
- gathering all available maps, schematics, photos and/or drawings of the military structure
- filter out errors and misleading information
- gathering of base material (if available) from the actual site. If this option is not available a close proxy will be used.
- creation of materials for use within 3D computer aided design programs
- creation of material for use for rendering
- process of creating assets (objects) for 3D engines
- setting up scenery and verification of GIS position
- final rendering
While there are many different paths available to get to the final output choices had to be made. MiLANT employs
- Autodesk 3DSMax 2015
- Autodesk Mudbox 2015
- Autodesk Maya 2015
- Autodesk AutoCAD 2015
- Substance Designer 3.5
- Adobe Photoshop CC
- Adobe Illustrator CC
- Crytech CryEngine 4th generation
- OTOY Octane Render 2
The render platform and hardware are based on a custom built system.
- Intel Core i7-3820 CPU
- Asus P9X79Workstation (LGA2011)
- GeIL 64GB 1600 RAM
- 3x EVGA Geforce GTX670FTW 4GB
